It's a busy time of the year from Romany Quilting

It's only the beginning of December but it is certainly getting busy.  All the various clubs and groups are winding down and having their Christmas celebrations.  And this week was no exception when I had several break ups to attend.  The Probus Club had it's last meeting of the year, followed by a Christmas meal.  Our monthly meetings are held in the local Cossie (Cosmopolitan) Club, and the staff had been busy making things look very festive.

Changing Quilts, and a Movie from Romany Quilting

It's taken me a while, but at long last, I've taken the Christmas quilts down.  With such gorgeous weather, what better to display than "My New Zealand Bird Quilt", made back in I'm very proud of this one, especially as it is hand appliqued and hand quilted, and was designed by NZ designer Mary Fletcher.  I'll let you into a little secret.  The design had a creepy crawly weta together with the iconic tuatara (lizard) block, but there was no way I was going to have one of those on my quilt!

I set up a living room corner "quilt ladder."

This was not on my list, but it was in my plans.

This piece of furniture is called our "white elephant."

My husband made in over 30 years ago for a large open country kitchen in an apartment that we rented that did not have much counter or storage space.

It has served many purposes over the years.

Now it is serves to display and store some of my quilts.

Last week's list:

1) Make new covers for the cushions for my outdoor swing ... not done :(

2) Pick a project ...

Flying Geese quilt ladder runner from Carried Away Quilting

Hello quilting friends! I'm excited to update you on a project I started last year, a long Flying Geese runner featuring one of my favorite fabric collections, Harvest Road by Lella Boutique for Moda. The runner is finished, and I've displayed it on a quilt ladder in my living room. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

The inspiration for this project came from the Furrows block and Harvest tablerunner in Lori Holt’s Farm Girl Vintage book. My runner is much longer than the sample in the book, finishing at 96" long by 12" wide ...
